CWW: “Caravan”

(Creative Work Weekends: On Fridays The Heathernet will feature a completed or in progress work of creative writing. Constructive feedback and ideas/prompts for more CWWs are always appreciated in the comments.)

Read: "Caravan"

Note: Something a little different this week. Instead of getting something for Michelle for Valentine's Day (since I think it's an abomination of a holiday) I thought about her and was inspired to write a song. A video of me playing the song will be posted later this week if I get up the guts to record it.

CWW: Excerpt from ‘The Field’

Read: Excerpt from 'The Field'

Note: This is an excerpt from a longer piece I wrote for a fiction class in Spring of 2007 called 'The Field.' For those of you who know me best, the subject matter of this piece will certainly make you snicker at me.

CWW: Boggart and Boogin Scribbling

Read: Boggart and Boogin Scribbling

Note: There's no story here. Without any direction for my protagonist I had no idea what I was trying to accomplish here. I knew I was trying to be silly, but silly without a reason... is simply silly.

Share in my Christmas

Posted by Heath

I really had an amazing Christmas this year. Sadly, Christmas this year was also my only day off of the week. So I've been super wiped out when I'm home and trying to cram all sorts of other things into my precious free time. So this post took a couple of days to polish up and squeeze out but I'm really excited about it.

One of the reasons I'm flying around so much is that Michelle and I are trying to spend as much time together as possible before she moves away in just five days. After she moves we aren't even that sure what our schedule for seeing each other will be since I may or may not be working and on top of that I work such random retail hours. But let me tell you why she is so amazing. This is what she got me for Christmas

I have some sweet Legos that I will never part with. Some may snicker, but a life goal of mine is to get a little space, a little money, and restore my Lego collection. The Black Seas Barracuda was a set that I would have never expected to own. It was always in the ridiculous price range that you can't convince your parents it's worth it and you'd never scratch together enough allowance to buy it yourself. This was a really special gift to open and I'm really excited to restore its broken and missing pieces and add it to my pirate collection.

My parents hit up my list. They got me something that's been on my list for a couple years. I think they put it under my tree right when it makes sense for me. I have my own digital camcorder now. I specifically asked for a consumer model, so that it was affordable, but with some sneaky pro features, like a mic input, and they found exactly what I was looking for.

So, I really can't hold on to it much longer. I now present to you, my Christmas movie!

The New Justice League

Posted by Jason

I was conversing with Jenna (sister-in-law and my personal chef) online the other night, mostly about nothing, but our conversation revealed to me a funny idea.  I asked how she was and how Murph was, but for some reason, I referred to Jordan as "Beard".  Anyone who knows Jordan really wouldn't think this to be strange, but throughout the conversation, me and Jenna continued to refer to Jordan as "Beard".  So Jenna asked me what my name would be, and I just threw out the name "Stubble".  This triggered Jenna to say Beard and Stubble could be a new comic book.  I didn't want to be a sidekick, but this put a thought in my mind, about a new justice league made up of five new super-heroes.  Jenna started timing me to think of the people in the justice league, and their powers.  It was stressful, and we're not friends anymore, but I did come up with a solid 5 characters who will make up the new justice league.  Here they are...

Jordan - Alias: Beard.  Beard has the ability to manipulate the weather.  He can create and control massive storms.

Heath - Alias: Peach-fuzz.  Peach-fuzz has an indestructable body.  He feels no pain and cannot be destroyed. (Heath: Peach-fuzz!? Are you just trying to see what you can get away with on my blog?)

Andy - Alias: Mutton-chops.  Mutton-chops has the ability to manipulate gravity.  He can levitate objects and move them where he likes.

Jason - Alias: Stubble.  Stubble has a temporal duplication ability.  He is able to bring past and future versions of himself to the present.

Murph - Alias: Dr. Whiskers.  Doc Whisk is a time traveler.  He can go back and forward in time.
