The Stratus is at the dentist

You know… If that was a 400 dollar new set of dentures on it’s wheels and 100 dollar fancy set of laser braces wrapped around them.

Update: Um, turns out the Sears guys weren’t lying, this time. I thought this whole alignment suggestion could have been that classic gimmick to draw more money out of the walk-in customer, but since alignment issues are a very plausible explanation for tire wear issues I figured it was better safe than sorry when I’m planning on road tripping out to Connecticut this weekend.

Vinnie (van Gogh), which the Stratus is now named after I hacked off one of his mirrors in a free self car repair last week, was up on the lift for quite a while. I saw hammers and I saw blow torches. I was called out in the garage. This is going to take a while I was told. I ate Arby’s. I called in to work. When the car was done I was shown a crazy chart with my wheels all in red and my wheels all in green. I was told, “You’ll be glad you came in to do this today.” I drove my car to work.

I, uh, um, wow… this is my car?

Somehow I had just assumed Vin had always felt that way. Had always pulled that way at high speeds. Was always, well, frankly, a heap of trash. I had sadly forgotten Vinnie’s glory days (when he was female, odd,) and when he was a sweet and smooth highway-lovin’ automobile. So, I’m looking forward to driving the ol’ jalopy out to CT and happy that I just bought Vin a few more months to live.
