Note: There's no story here. Without any direction for my protagonist I had no idea what I was trying to accomplish here. I knew I was trying to be silly, but silly without a reason... is simply silly.

Heath Update: T Time

Posted by Heath

I've always been a fan of a schedule that starts later in the day and ends later at night. I'm a pretty firm believer that we each can have a natural sleep cycle that is unique. I'm positive that mine is best set when my bedtime is around 1AM and my wake up time is between 9-10AM. During my Oswego years when I had a lot of credit weight to throw around all my schedules were set according to that schedule. I hardly ever missed class, had great grades, and experienced relatively few meltdowns when the stress from lack of sleep and the college crush got to me. I was always able to be well-rested or catch up on rest in just a matter of days.

So I like the night shift better, in general, but there still is nothing to do during that last 15 minutes while you wait to go off to work. So I figured, got fifteen minutes, give a little Heath update.

And how fitting, the update would have to be about work. I have been retained by Target after all. Now you can find me in red and khaki about 40 hours a week.

Also, Vinnie, (the Stratus) is having more issues. He decided that Connecticut was the best state for failing his fuel pump. After three days of going to and from CT to take care of him and dropping 600 bucks of my parents cash on him he's back on the road again but now I'm getting that feeling that I don't know for how much longer. After I spent the 450 to replace his tires and get him realigned you can see that I couldn't afford to make a second repair on him in such a short amount of time.

So, you see, working at Target: not great, but something. Something necessary.

And that's where I'm headed... right... now.

Land of crimson and hosiery

Posted by Heath

I've always had this fantasy in my head that New England was some sort of Mecca for Red Sox fans displaced like myself. That as you walk around in your B adorned cap you will lock eyes with similarly hatted citizens and nod, welcoming each other home. That NESN is on every TV and re-runs of Dave Roberts sliding into second are all that is ever played.

Well, beliefs can be a funny thing. Just now, on routine trip to the mall in Groton, Connecticut, Michelle and I found this line of people and this... Well...

This World Series trophy!

The Stratus is at the dentist

Posted by Heath

You know... If that was a 400 dollar new set of dentures on it's wheels and 100 dollar fancy set of laser braces wrapped around them.

Update: Um, turns out the Sears guys weren't lying, this time. I thought this whole alignment suggestion could have been that classic gimmick to draw more money out of the walk-in customer, but since alignment issues are a very plausible explanation for tire wear issues I figured it was better safe than sorry when I'm planning on road tripping out to Connecticut this weekend.

Vinnie (van Gogh), which the Stratus is now named after I hacked off one of his mirrors in a free self car repair last week, was up on the lift for quite a while. I saw hammers and I saw blow torches. I was called out in the garage. This is going to take a while I was told. I ate Arby's. I called in to work. When the car was done I was shown a crazy chart with my wheels all in red and my wheels all in green. I was told, "You'll be glad you came in to do this today." I drove my car to work.

I, uh, um, wow... this is my car?

Somehow I had just assumed Vin had always felt that way. Had always pulled that way at high speeds. Was always, well, frankly, a heap of trash. I had sadly forgotten Vinnie's glory days (when he was female, odd,) and when he was a sweet and smooth highway-lovin' automobile. So, I'm looking forward to driving the ol' jalopy out to CT and happy that I just bought Vin a few more months to live.

Go out there and hit somebody

Posted by Heath

Hey, let's pack some updates in, shall we?

I got the seasonal termination from Target so as of this Friday I'm back to just scraping by with the money I've saved. Worse yet, I still live on without a viable health insurance option and my last physical at a doctor's office coming up on a slightly frightening ten years. Hey, I found a bright side, now that I don't have to either be at Target (or recovering from being at Target) I'll kick the blog back up a notch. (Hopefully.) I've had some quick hit thoughts I've really wanted to get out there.

Ever wanted to completely suit up in football gear and go out and level somebody? I know I have. Or better yet, lay a fair ball into right field for an RBI single? Man, I've only gotten to do that in slow pitch softball and I still find that a rush. I think people who have enough of a handle on their body control (and let's face it, self-esteem, too) while they are growing up to play sports are a lucky bunch. Now that I'm comfortable with who I am and marginal hand-eye coordination this is the time I want to go out there and learn how to make a tackle or field a grounder.

The Heathernet may or may not have had a friendly visit from the Tom Shillue. You never know what's what with this internet thing but I believe google to be a powerful tool and Tom to be a friendly guy. Check out his probable visit in the comments of this post.

Finally, I really hope to get some creative writing produced. Look for creative writing posts to be made weekly at (or by) 8PM Fridays. That way it's a little something to read over the weekend or something to do first thing at work on Monday. At least that's what my ego tells me you'll do.
