Share in my Christmas
I really had an amazing Christmas this year. Sadly, Christmas this year was also my only day off of the week. So I've been super wiped out when I'm home and trying to cram all sorts of other things into my precious free time. So this post took a couple of days to polish up and squeeze out but I'm really excited about it.
One of the reasons I'm flying around so much is that Michelle and I are trying to spend as much time together as possible before she moves away in just five days. After she moves we aren't even that sure what our schedule for seeing each other will be since I may or may not be working and on top of that I work such random retail hours. But let me tell you why she is so amazing. This is what she got me for Christmas.
I have some sweet Legos that I will never part with. Some may snicker, but a life goal of mine is to get a little space, a little money, and restore my Lego collection. The Black Seas Barracuda was a set that I would have never expected to own. It was always in the ridiculous price range that you can't convince your parents it's worth it and you'd never scratch together enough allowance to buy it yourself. This was a really special gift to open and I'm really excited to restore its broken and missing pieces and add it to my pirate collection.
My parents hit up my list. They got me something that's been on my list for a couple years. I think they put it under my tree right when it makes sense for me. I have my own digital camcorder now. I specifically asked for a consumer model, so that it was affordable, but with some sneaky pro features, like a mic input, and they found exactly what I was looking for.
So, I really can't hold on to it much longer. I now present to you, my Christmas movie!

Where did I go?
I'm currently typing up this little blurb whilst I sit in the Mohawk Commons Taco Bell/Long John Silver's establishment. I'm eating fast food because I feel like I deserve it. I'm on my dinner while I work the most insane retail shift I have ever put in.
No matter how much fun it is blogging still is going to need a working effort. When I get home from the place where the pictures you see below were taken (Today, 6:30PM) I have no desire to "punch in" to the Heathernet blog dashboard.
If you're worried, don't. After all, I'm making Christmas happen one (actually five or six) customer(s) at a time.
TDOWT…W!?: Hat
(The Department of What the… What!?: Sometimes something will strike The Heathernet as so ridiculously off that it needs to be instantly commented on. TDOWT…W!? chronicles these abuses of our minds.)
I caught wind of uniform changes coming to the Red Sox a couple days ago. Dangerous territory. The unveiling of the new fabrics happened today. A breakdown:

Not even sure if this is a change
No big surprise here. Although traditional I would have to say no one was really married to the circle logo any more. It's actually kind of neat that the hanging sox are so iconic that they can be pulled right out of all the other badging. It would be like the top hat catching on from this symbol:

Let's go... top hats?
It's interesting to me when teams still take a stab at making these elaborate circle baseball symbols as seen even in recent expansions like the Florida Marlins:

Keeping it classy for all those Marlins fans
So the Sox outgrew it's circle. I'm not shocked, yet.

The PHU and the PRU
I have to say. I'm a big fan. I was not Sox aware during the 80's but I really enjoy this throwback to a time with simpler uniforms. The Sox will be hanging on the sleeve for this uniform as well. That's great, of course, they might have to be there because I would expect the socks for this team to be blue to match the lettering. Maybe not, maybe there will be enough red accents on these new guys to still yank the crimson foot tubes knee high. (The way they ought to be.)
Okay. Let's dispense with the pleasantries, on to the TDOW...W!?

Here it comes...
What is THAT on the hat!?
What is it!?
TELL ME WHAT IT IS!
Ooooh, it's that Sox logo I was okay with just a second ago. Well, not when you mess with that hat!

Digital assisted pool would make us slightly better
During our vacation semester at Ithaca College one of the activities that would actually get Jordan and I out of the apartment was playing pool for free at the student center. We weren't that great but I think we looked pretty good beating each other. Jordan would often have games where he looked especially on. One particularly memorable night a shark-like character who grew bored with sharking himself on the next door table popped a challenge to the bearded one. He sort of had to accept. He held his own but I remember when the challenger finally let him go we snatched our IDs and fled from the game room like someone was chasing us. Never take us out of the comfort zone of beating each other.
Now if only we had this genius contraption. It's always nice to see college science applied to where the world truly needs it.

The New Justice League
I was conversing with Jenna (sister-in-law and my personal chef) online the other night, mostly about nothing, but our conversation revealed to me a funny idea. I asked how she was and how Murph was, but for some reason, I referred to Jordan as "Beard". Anyone who knows Jordan really wouldn't think this to be strange, but throughout the conversation, me and Jenna continued to refer to Jordan as "Beard". So Jenna asked me what my name would be, and I just threw out the name "Stubble". This triggered Jenna to say Beard and Stubble could be a new comic book. I didn't want to be a sidekick, but this put a thought in my mind, about a new justice league made up of five new super-heroes. Jenna started timing me to think of the people in the justice league, and their powers. It was stressful, and we're not friends anymore, but I did come up with a solid 5 characters who will make up the new justice league. Here they are...
Jordan - Alias: Beard. Beard has the ability to manipulate the weather. He can create and control massive storms.
Heath - Alias: Peach-fuzz. Peach-fuzz has an indestructable body. He feels no pain and cannot be destroyed. (Heath: Peach-fuzz!? Are you just trying to see what you can get away with on my blog?)
Andy - Alias: Mutton-chops. Mutton-chops has the ability to manipulate gravity. He can levitate objects and move them where he likes.
Jason - Alias: Stubble. Stubble has a temporal duplication ability. He is able to bring past and future versions of himself to the present.
Murph - Alias: Dr. Whiskers. Doc Whisk is a time traveler. He can go back and forward in time.
The Christmas Admittance
I hide from this holiday every year. Maybe I've been scarred for life by holiday retail. I suppose I'll revisit that theory tomorrow when I report for my first day of work at Target tomorrow. As Jordan and I were saying to each other last night, maybe one day Christmas and the holidays will be a time to look forward to again. That time of gathering and love that the day of Christmas still rings as true instead of the month of wanting and money sucking that the month of December has become. Until then, to expedite some of your stress and alleviate some of mine, here is my Christmas list:

Audio Entertainment:
Listen, I like music, music is good. I suppose recently I've been trying to shore up my grunge and post-grunge collection. Albums from Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Smashing Pumpkins are all good for this purpose. Or, you know, I don't have the Dixie Chicks latest album either. There aren't that many wrong answers here.
Other:
If you're still stuck, just go to Zombie Planet or Flights of Fantasy and buy me something. I'll like it, I promise.
Ponder This – Issue 4.0
GDP: Does Russia really have the same GDP as New Jersey? Well, according to a map my good friend and roommate Daniel J. Pucci found, where each state is matched up with a nation who's GDP is similar to its own, Russia and New Jersey do have similar GDP's. This got me thinking, is this a good thing?
Gross Domestic Product is used as an indicator of the economic health of a country, and also gauges a country's standard of living. GDP therefore examines a country's productivity. It blows my mind that New Jersey and Russia have similar production. Other comparisons include California matching GDP's with France, New York matching GDP's with Brazil, and Texas matching GDP's with Canada.
From just these three states alone it would appear that our economy is very healthy. However, I just read this morning that we are in a recession, have been in one for a while, and will not get out of it for another year. So that is just confusing! This map shows how much of an emphasis the US puts on production and business. I don't know how accurate this map is, nor do I have any kind of answer for anything that I am writing about, but this map's information sort of took me by surprise. All I know is that we spend a lot, as consumers, and in government and businesses. As a country we have a lot of money, it seems like we could just throw it around and make piles of it like we do with leaves in the fall, and give it to less fortunate countries, who have nothing to rake up. Take a look, and ponder if you will...

Fun with Photoshop
I got an idea for a project today after realizing I was bored with my Facebook pic.
Now you get to pick your favorite!
This picture's eventual home will be in the header of the About Heath page. I think it takes a reasonable stab at all of the me!
